  • I don’t think it’s the best place to put an ad… between the title of the post and its content…. :-/

    Actually it is a very good place as per Google. So is Matt not making enough with AdSense?

    I just hope he doesn’t revert to using the default ads that comes with AdBrite. They are bad, really bad ??

    Is anyone else finding that the ads are currently taking a very looooong time to appear? Might be a localised routing problem with my ISP, but at present the forum is almost unusable for me. Heading appears, then a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong wait, while my browser tries to contact AdBrite, and finally the page renders. Same result with FF and (ewww!) IE.

    I don’t object to ads in the forums per se, but if they’re going to break functionality, sometihng needs to be fixed…

    I’m noticing the same problem of very long load times.

    Can’t say I notice any load time difference.
    Adblock fails to remove the line though ??

    It seemed to speed up after I posted. However, by that point I’d been sufficiently irritated to get around to installing Adblock. Ads gone, just the “your ad here” link remaining…

    I really hate the “Your Ad Here” text… the ads are ok, but this bit of text seems to jump out at ya!!!! I guess because it is _just_ above the start of the article…

    Yep, Matt chose network Ads which means all these debt consolidation and mortgage ads on the way. Enjoy ??

    You can get a nice FF extension to deal with the Your Ad Here one as well: Remove It Permanently (or RIP). Look for it in the Web Annoyances section of the Extensions pages.

    thanks vkaryl it’s the only thing i ever see on the forums – in that i’e always had the ad blocker in ff on which does a lovely job anyway:)

    damn that plugin is good!

    @vkaryl and others.
    I do not block my ads for the same reason I do not switch off ads on tv, because someone gotta pay these dudes for their code or shows ??

    There is an exception, I cannot take Pepsi ads anymore.

    So I may gripe, but Matt’s Adbrite stays on ??

    I donated. I don’t feel as if I have to also look at irritating ads on every post page – if it was only once in a while, it wouldn’t be so bad. And I NEVER click on the damn things anyway. Won’t do it. I’d rather just pay for something. Which I feel I have, by donating.

    i don’t like ads. i don’t watch tv, so i don’t watch ads. i have never clicked on ads, because the ads offer me nothing i want, only what they think i want which is never anything useful. if we go down the route of “leave them on if you don’t donate” or something where you start to measure the users value based on how clicks they’ve made…

    well anyway it’s off topic, the ads link is gone and it makes me happy. to each their own

    @vkaryl Your’s is probably a better approach ??

    @jinsan Once or twice I noticed Google AdSense actually providing valuable information on a topic. Targeted ads sometime do ad value. I too am trying to get off TV, major league time killer.
