Earlier today, I downloaded 2 different plugins to make backups of my website so I could update to the newest version of WordPress. Prior to that, my website was loading normally in every browser.

At one point, I messed up my database by changing the MySQL password. But I eventually figured out the problem and changed it back. After that, I couldn’t get my website to load in Firefox. The admin panel -mostly- worked, but there were a few features not working correctly. And weirdly it worked normally on my phone (even on Firefox) and on another browser.

Eventually I tried updating WordPress. This caused it to consistently not load on any browser. So I restored from a backup that I created earlier today. Despite restoring all aspects, it still wouldn’t load in Firefox. I also tried deleting both of the new plugins. Eventually I figured out that it works if I turn off my ad blocker (AdBlocker Ultimate).?

This was never an issue until now, and I’m very concerned that it’s going to prevent others from viewing my website. What could be causing ad blockers to stop my website from loading?

  • Hi!

Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Maybe it cached some weird version, and you see that now. Your website loads fine to me in FF.

One thing to note, there is an “insecure website” notice because your 2 icons in the header, email and phone, are loading from http, and not https.

@zex2911 looks like it resolved itself overnight somehow! So that’s convenient lol

Thanks for calling that out about the icons – weird that I wasn’t getting the warning anywhere. I changed it to https in the code – did that fix it on your end?

@amapor9 Yep, that fixed it. You can close this ticket now ??
