I’m reaching out because I’m having trouble with the activity log. I’ve replied twice to two different topics with similar sounding problems, but it seems like someone has marked my replies as spam because they are no longer there.

I’m a real user with a genuine issue, this is not spam. Thanks!

The problem I’m encountering is that when I click the “generate” button, the wheel spins for a moment and then stops, but nothing happens with the activity log. I’ve found that if I refresh the page, the activity log works correctly. This issue started with version 2.2.7 and has persisted through 2.2.8. I’m using LocalWP on an M1 MacBook Pro with Ventura.

I’ve had a similar issue on a site hosted by SiteGround. When I click the generate button, the wheel keeps spinning and doesn’t stop. The activity log doesn’t show any progress, and even after deactivating and reactivating the plugin, the wheel still spins. I deactivated the plugin, and when I returned a few days later and reactivated it, the wheel was still spinning. Could the server be stuck? It’s just a development site, so I’ll likely replace it with a local version. However, it feels like the issue with the local site and the issue with SiteGround might be related.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you.

  • I’ve seen the same behaviour on my local site whereby the only way to get the activity log to update is to refresh the page. As a result I’ve rolled back the plugin (using the “WP Rollback” plugin) to 2.2.6.

I’ve played about a bit more with version 2.2.8. For me If I press the ‘Generate’ button it initially goes to a spinner but (within a few seconds) the ‘Generate’ button reappears and makes it seem like the generation has failed. However if I then refresh the page using the browser’s refresh function the spinner reappears and it’s clear that the generation is actually proceeding normally, Thus it would seem there’s a flaw in the UI somewhere. In summary my workflow is now to hit the ‘Generate’ button and if/when the spinner disappears I then refresh the page.

    Hey@rseitzberg and @tremlas,

    thanks for the explanation.

This should be fixed now with version 2.2.9.

Because we switched to a WP-CRON default execution within Simply Static (without the requirement of activating it), the ping service wasn’t triggered correctly.

So the export started correctly in the background, but that wasn’t reflected within the UI unless you reloaded the page.

With 2.2.9, I ensured that the ping gets triggered before scheduling the task with WP-Cron.

    Cheers,

    Patrick
