Activity favorite causes two notifications and two ways of dismissing them

If a member posts a blog post and another member favorites that post from the activity stream then two notification are generated, one for the activity favorite and one for the post favorite, could this be cut down to one notification please?

Also I notice that there is a difference in behaviour between activity favorites and post favorites in the way that those notifications are dismissed. For post favorites if you click on the notification it will take you to the post and the notification is dismissed. For activity favorites if you click on the link it takes you to the activity but it does not dismiss the notification, to do that you need to go to notifications and mark it as read. Could this be changed so that clicking the link dismisses the notification?
