    Hello,
Recently I’ve activated the option “Use WebP Images” and it seems everything is fine, the plugin is generated new .webp images. But on the website is still old images (jpg, png etc.). My browser is Chrome. Here is a screenshot from the plugin options: https://i.ibb.co/PWh6Wm3/2023-11-08-23-37.png

Do I need to do anything else?

    Thanks.

    Hello @zerge,

Enabling the option generates webp copies of all currently existing images and will keep generating such for new images uploaded from the media library.

In case, you deactivate the “Use WebP Images” option, this will delete all existing WebP files including images generated by the plugin and manually uploaded ones.

    Regards,

    Vladimir

    It’s clear.
But how to change the old images to new WebP in HTML markup?
What’s the point of me having a bunch of these new WebP images, but the website is still used the old one?

    Hi @zerge,

Generally, when there are WebP copies of your images, the browser should automatically serve the files with the .webp extension.
Currently, most of the browsers support WebP and if your browser is updated to the latest version, this should not be a problem.

If you are still experiencing issue with WebP images not being served by the browser, please post a ticket in SiteGround’s HelpDesk so we can investigate the case further directly on your site.
