Activation Emails in Localhost set-up

  • Test Set -Up:- XAMPP Mac OS X 10.7.5, WP 3.4.2, BP 1.6.1. multisite subdomain.
    I am using XAMPP via DesktopServer.

    Have also queried the DesktopServer developer.

    Would like a guide or a link to guide or a link to a plugin

    to enable me to (test) registration and activation of new members via emails.

    to enable the installation to send out activation emails which in turn can be activated by a new member

    Very grateful for any guidance
