    Host: WP Engine
    OS: Linux
    Running WordPress 4.7.5

I am working with a new client and installed Wordfence on their site that I did not develop. I tried to activate the firewall but got the warning message when I did saying this file was included.

    wp/www/common/production/auto_prepends.php

I do not recognize the file and don’t have any security plugins installed so I don’t know why this file is included, unless it is something automatically done by WP Engine. If not, I don’t think it should be there.

    What is your advice?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,
As far as I know, WP Engine doesn’t allow installing Wordfence plugin on their servers, more information regarding that published on their website here.

    Thanks.

Yeah, they say they are going to remove it because they identify it as a caching plugin. But WordFence isn’t really a caching plugin. Have you taken this up with them?

    Thanks for your reply.

Wordfence no longer offers caching solution (used to do that with Falcon Engine but it was discontinued since version 6.2.8). They also list it in “Duplicate Behavior Plugins” section for the security functions.

    Thanks.
