Activating the child theme

  • Hi I have read codex documentation and googled on how to make a child theme but the installation of it .. not much and nothing enlightening. I am using the twenty ten theme .. assume I have got everything right and in the right place, i.e. I have uploaded via FTP client my folder twentyten-child as a subfolder of the twentyten theme. wp-content/themes/twentyten/twentyten-child. In my back end I go to appearance> themes. Here my twentyten theme is displayed with 1 option besides Manage themes and that is Install Themes. If I go there and do a search for twentyten-child .. I get other peoples child themes, If I choose upload, it asks for zip format. I am obviously missing something fairly obvious here but this is my first self hosted word press site.

  • I have uploaded via FTP client my folder twentyten-child as a subfolder of the twentyten theme.

    Delete that child folder and re-upload it to wp-content/themes/twentyten-child
