• I have successfully installed WordPress and downloaded two themes. The first, Twenty Ten 1.1 activates and displays as expected but when I activate the alternative Atahualpa 3.4.9 instead of the theme image being displayed I get only a simple header with links:
Powered by WordPress & the Atahualpa Theme by BytesForAll. Discuss on our WP Forum

Anybody know what I am doing wrong?

Beyond that, I have no idea what to do next or how to edit, link pages etc. but I will research that once I have the theme operational.

    Many thanks

FYI I did proceed with esmi’s suggestion and posted several times. A couple of things to report for the benefit of all:
    1) when searching for themes through Dashboard under “Install Themes” that it reverts with version 3.4.9 but when I search https://wordpress.bytesforall.com/?p=94 it shows SEVERAL newer versions up to 3.5.3 which I just downloaded. I deleted Atahualpa through Dashboard, ensured my webhost ftp files/directory were all gone, uploaded the complete package 3.5.3 and tried again. But with the SAME RESULT.
    2) it would appear that the interface varies to a degree that causes a lot of confusion.

I believe things are pretty buggy and not very user friendly at all. It sure has killed a lot of my time and I have not even gotten to the point of having a theme page up and running!
