Activate plugin manually

I mistakenly deactivated the plugin, and have in place a redirect to a page with the wpb-login shortcode. I found a support article to update the wp-options table and it’s active_plugins fields to reactivate your plugin, but I imagine that something has to actually run to set up the shortcode etc.

Is there anything I can do manually to reinstate the functionality of the plugin, i.e. simulate the Activate Plugin process?
