• Does anyone know if there a way I can edit the installation files of wordpress to allow a plugin to be active by default? This way I can make suree that certain plugins are running when I create multiple wordpress installations.

  • I’m having trouble activating a few plugins, does anybody know why. Some of the plugins I can activate but others such as copyfeed and share-this I can’t activate (they don’t show up in the plugin section after I extract/ftp the files to my plugin folder).

Lucentminds, I’d like the know the same thing. The “5-minute” install is just how long it takes to upload the files ?? Configuring everything can take several hours. Maybe like you I’m looking to streamline the process. I’m making progress.

Somehow WP knows which plugins are activated. I might start digging in MySQL to see where it’s “activated”. BUT, Akismet requires an activation code, which might further complicate this “auto-activation” idea.

I wonder what would happen if I copied all the MySQL table info from an existing blog, then wouldn’t all the plugins/settings be right? Or is that a bad idea?
