Ack! LJ import not working

    I replied to a closed thread (with no posted solution) on the same topic, but didn’t get any response… so here I go again ??

    I am brand new to WP and would really like to import my LJ posts into my new journal…. soo I saved my LJ entries as an XML file and tried to use the WP 2.0.7 import tool. It gave me the success “have fun” link to my blog after the import, but nothing else. The posts are nowhere to be found…

    I was going to try to import without using the WP tool, but my build does not have the import-livejournal.php file.

    Can anyone help with this? Did my files get uploaded *anywhere* and if so, how do I get them to show up on my new blog?

  • Um, not sure which importer you’re using since you mention that you don’t have the LJ importe file.

    Yo can grab a copy of it from here. But, just to double check, it should be at wp-admin/importers/livejournal.php just for reference.

    I have that file, I meant that some older FAQ’s listed another php file for use in import.. Sorry for the confusion.

    But yes, I’m using the import tool that’s built into the newer builds of WP and it is not working :-/

    I upgraded to 2.1 thinking the import tool might work now, but no such luck.

    Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

    Nevermind. I figured it out.

    Somehow, anyway I saved the LJ exported XML in notepad just didn’t format right… when I used LJArchive to get the same XML data, it worked just fine with the import tool.
