• Hi everyone,

We are currently using the Badge OS LearnDash integration. We have set up an achievement type called ‘topic complete’. Any of these achievement types are awarded when a user passes a LearnDash quiz at the end of a course.

We have another type called ‘perseverance’. We want to issue these badges based on the user completing X amount of ‘topic complete’ activities. Each step is configures like this:

‘Specific achievement of type > Topic-Complete > Achievement Title > Achievement ID > 1 times.

There are 4 of the above steps required to issue the ‘perseverance’ badge.

However, the badge is not issuing after the 4 configures steps are complete. When an achievement fires automatically, there are usually 3 associated records for the user. The first is the ‘completed step with the default Badge OS image’, the second is the actual achievement with our own custom image, the third is a repeat of the first. It appears that each achievement requires two associated steps to fire automatically. When we manually issue a ‘topic complete’ badge, these two associated steps also appear. The same is true if it does it automatically. This is not the case with our ‘perseverance’ badge. When issued manually, only that individual badge appears.

I hope the above makes sense. Based on my limited knowledge about how achievements fire automatically, it is the missing associated steps which is causing the problem. If anyone knows why these hooks could be missing, that would be really appreciated!

    Many thanks in advance.

If I’m reading right, you’re seeing some of the steps and their associated separate achievements, but not all of them that have been set up for the achievement in question.

Have you verified that the user is earning all of the 4 specified topic complete achievements? Not just the “step” post type involved that BadgeOS uses behind the scenes. If you set up custom graphics for your achievemetns, it’d show those, not the yellow thumbs up.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the feedback. I have checked that all of the achievements linked to issuing the badge have been earned. They have. When I manually issue the badge, the custom image shows but no associated ‘step/thumbs up’ achievements. Unlike topic complete badges, which also issue ‘step/thumbs up’ in addition to my custom badges, if I manually award those.

    Does this make sense?

Not quite as much as I’d prefer. Lots to mentally map here ??

Would you be willing to allow a temporary admin user for myself to look things over directly?

I should have some time today that I can dive into the admin for.

Can you provide reference some users that have some of these quizzes done? If I recall right, they’re sometimes long quizzes, so trying to debug would not be the easiest thing in a timely manner.

Also i know it’s potentially a lot to ask for, but if you have a dev/staging copy that’d be very preferable instead of a live site. I know we went around this topic quite a bit earlier this year, but credentials and situations change.

    Hi Michael,

Development site details shared via email. Do you want the name of a user who has earned this achievement (manually awarded by us by becuase of the bug).

    Hi Micahel

I have shared the names of some students who should have been automatically awarded a badge after completing the required steps.
