Hi! Thanks a lot for the awesome plugin and the help in advance! I’m trying to place a layer with an ACF (adding through “insert”) in the dynamic slider Generator and I see it and can move it on the Generator’s details page. But the field disappears in preview and after saving as well, and is not displayed on the page. Please, help ?? Thanks!!!

    Hi @alexdolgopolskiy!

The problem with ACF is, that it can have many different type of fields, and it is storing them differently, and we are only getting out plain texts, and one more type, which was requested. If you write to me an email to [email protected] then I will try to help you with your field!

Hey! I’ve found the way to resolve this problem ?? Not sure, if it’s the right one, but it works: after I apply changes to the layers or make new ones in the Generator, I regenerate the slides – I kill them all and then press “Save Static”. Works fine for me, so I mark this as resolved. I got another question, though – it’s in the mail. Thanks!

Just for the community to have it here: the case was quite simple. To preview the changes made in the generator one needs to “publish” the dynamic slides by pressing on the crossed red circles in the lower right corners. Then pressing the Preview button will show you the results. Personally I find the procedure a bit misleading, but this is probably a mewbie impression. Anyways it’s all working now. And I’m very impressed by the support. Once again, unprecedented – immediate (within their clearly stated working hours) and comprehensive. Thank you!!!

Thank you for sharing your thought about generators. In the future we will try to step forward on this behavior.

A little explanation happened what you saw: As sometimes a generator with lot of records could use a lot of resource on your server, by default Smart Slider uses caching on generators. This helps to speed up things as it don’t have to load every post for every visitor from the database. This cache has an expiration time and it will refresh the content when the cache expired.

To improve this we will try to track the posts used in generator and when the post updated we would need to invalidate the cache which contains that post. (But it is more deeper than, imagine the situation that you selected a category where your article came from. In this case we should track if a post added to that category and also the posts in it)
