• Hello,

I used ACF to add listing details.

Today I updated the plugin to 5.7.6, and all my fields and data are gone!!

I see now that I am being prompted to update the database.
But all my data has disappeared!

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • On my side, the database upgrade broke my website. I have more than 20k ads on it, after the DB upgrade: white page. Huge loss of time. I do need the SQL command to upgrade properly from webmin. Without this, I’ll have to delete the plugin unfortunately.

I tried the new version on another website. Even when it seems to be working, the native fields are gone and you need to go to the ACF settings to have them back, one by one. fukc fukc

    You don’t have another exit!
    Upgrade the database and pray!

    It was ok to me!

The update gives me an error “Cannot remove files” – but then it does remove files and deletes the plugin entirely

After the database update some fields were still missing. The data was still there in the database but I had to manually add all of the missing fields for the data to be available on the site.

    Hi

Look like plugin author is not replying after updated plugin ? so many users have same issues.

    Thanks
    Ahir

If you are using the Repeater field, i found after the database update to some of my websites all my fields were missing that used that Plugin.

The websites that did work after the update i downloaded that version of Repeater plugin and then deleted and reuploaded on the websites where it wasnt working. For some reason the Repeater Plugin isnt always updating itself.

I found a solution that worked for me:
just make sure that you have the last version of all Advanced Custom Fields plugins (that you have..).
I updated them all, updated Flexible Content Field, and then updated the database (when the button popped up) – and it was all good and working again..
hope it will work to you too

If you are not getting a database upgrade prompt then do the following…

Check if the upgrade has been run in the past by checking your database wp_options table and find the “acf_version” row. This option contains the last known version of ACF installed. If the version is higher than 5.0, the upgrade has already run and will not appear.

It is possible to force ACF to run the upgrade again by editing this row in your DB and changing the option value to “4.4.12”. Please be sure to backup your database before making this change to avoid any “duplicate data” created in the second upgrade.

This is detailed in ACF DB Upgrade Guide

    This worked for me…

    Thanks katanga1987!

I was having the same problem and his tip worked for me.

We had an issue where the WYSIWYG Editor had disappeared in the Admin Area.

The old html content was still displaying on the site (public) but we couldn’t add or edit the info. No errors, the database had been updated.

Steps I took to solve the issue:

    1. Backed up site (again)

    2. Upgraded to ACF Pro*

    3. Looked for the missing field in the settings

Custom Fields > [field group] > Edit

    4. Found the field that was missing
(in our case we had “unknown” showing as the field type)

    5. change the field type to WYSIWYG

    6. breathed a sigh of relief

    7. Backed up the site again
(we do this so we can diff before and after if something breaks).

    Hope this helps.
    Mike

*The ACF Team deserve way more than the trivial price of the Pro version

Just incase this might help anyone. I had the same issue, so I deleted the new version and installed the one I had before upgrading(v.4.4.12) and my fields went back to normal.

@katanga1987 thank you, it works! ??
database upgrade prompted after editing “acf_version” row from wp_options table.
