• ACF: Better search was working fine. A member’s site would display pages if a member signed in. Signed out, the first teaser 3 lines or so are displayed with the log and join buttons, expected behavior. We are only searching pages and links, NOT media.

All was good until I enabled Permissions on media and 3D Flipbook. With permissions on media and a member logged in, we get no output on a search. Signed out, the first teaser 3 lines or so are displayed with the log and join buttons, expected behavior.

So why is Permissions interfering with ACF: Better search that is not set up to search media (only posts, pages, etc) but I turn off media in the permissions core tab and we now see search data with logged-in members!

    Anyone else seen this interaction?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@delawaregenealogy I need more configuration directions because I haven’t been able to recreate the error on a test site.

Do you have a plugin or custom code implementing the teaser and login / join prompt? If so, does the error still occur if you deactivate that code?

What are the role capabilities for your member role?

I’ll also need to know any other configuration steps to recreate this starting with a fresh WP install.

We are using paid memberships pro (PMPro) to manage our members.

The only configuration changes I made in permissions were:
In the core module, uncheck posts & pages. Checked Media & 3DFlipbook and saved.
In the group’s tab, I see a subscriber role. Click on subscriber and I do not see any additional information on the three tabs!

We only want permissions applied on media and 3D FlipBooks to stop nonmembers directly accessing these items if they have the URL of a pdf let’s say. Pages and Posts are limited by their membership level, not using the permissions plugin.

All members are Subscribers and it affects all the members I tried. Nonmembers with accounts, ie admins can search and are not affected by this problem!

As I mentioned, Permissions interfering with “ACF: Better search” that is not set up to search media/files (only text & text area, etc) but I

turn off media in the permissions core tab

and we now see search data with logged-in members!

Searching not login is working as expected. On pages behind the membership wall, it displays a three-line example of the page with the login prompt which is working as intended. On public pages, it will display the searched page correctly. Log in and search and you get nothing!

    ACF: Better Search – v4.0
    PublishPress Permissions – v3.5.7
    WordPress – v5.8.1
All other plugins are up to date.

    Thanks
    Does that help?
    Any thoughts.

    Hi @delawaregenealogy

Sorry, our Free support here at www.remarpro.com can’t dig into detailed plugin conflicts like this.

3D FlipBooks and Paid Memberships Pro are probably adding their own capabilities for media and it will require a developer to dig and debug where the conflict is.

Do you have a developer who can help? Or do you have Pro support with any of these plugins you’re using?
