I will tell you about my experience, in case it is useful to you (I also signed up in May of this year, the 17th)
I got the same message when I tried to send my newsletter emails (it was the first email I sent)
Reviewing the previous messages, it took them about an hour to respond to my registration request (they are quite fast in that regard); but they told me that “Your subscription is still pending approval because we’ve noticed you’re unsure you have your subscriber’s permission to send them emails”
I followed their recommendations and validated the authorization of the subscribers to send them emails, but I couldn’t find how to inform them that I already had the authorizations of all of them
So I created a new subscription (plan) in my MailPoet account for the same domain (www.gceo.mx), with less than 1,000 subscribers, but indicating that I already had the consent of the subscribers
In a few minutes I got the message “Your subscription was approved”, with the new key (different from the one the original plan has, the one that was not approved); which I used for the activation and validation of the MailPoet plugin (in the settings) and DONE !!
The only additional thing was that I had to log out of the WP administrator and log in again to send the newsletter that I had already prepared as a draft.
I tell you that the two plans (the approved and the pending) are still available in the subscription tab of my MailPoet account, only that the approved one has the option to “Upgrade, cancel or reset domain”, which does not have the plan that is pending (and what I will do from now on)
I hope this helps
