• I added 2-factor security and now regret it. I used LastPass App for it. Today the app was blank. I have an e-mail out to them.

I can not find the recovery codes any where.

Is there any way for an Admin to help be gain access? I can send screen shots of my GoDaddy cPanel that shows the domain is mine and I have access to the folder.

If not— I have a back up in cPanel that might be before I added the 2-factor. Not sure. If I restore that and it was before I added the 2-factor, will that work?

    Thanks for any help.

  • We can’t help you get into your site, but you should be able to use FTP or your cPanel File Manager to delete the 2-factor plugin from wp-content/plugins.

    Joy,

    You are a lifesaver.

Using cPanel I renamed the wp-content/plugins folder to wp-content/pluginsDisable

That allowed me to log in. I could not find how to disable the the 2FA, so I created a new user with a different e-mail address (required different e-mail address) and gave it Admin Rights. I restored the folder name and was able to log in as the new Admin.

    I owe your a Drink ??

An other question— I deleted the original User and assigned all content to the new Admin User name. I logged out and was able to log in. I then changed the e-mail address to my normal e-mail address. It allowed me to “Update profile”

    I got the following:

If you change this, we will send you an email at your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed.

It has been 15min, and I have not received the e-mail from WordPress to confirm it. I checked Junk/Spam. Any ideas? I can cancel the change and try again. I know it is typed correctly. Do you think it might just be slow?

THANKS for all your help. I would not have thought of that, and I did not find that as a suggestion when I was searching for a solution.

Do you think it might just be slow?

If you got other emails from your site, at least you know the email function works. No predicting when emails arrive though.
The other day I forwarded two texts to my email. The photo arrived in one minute. The description arrived 12 hours later.

I will not bore you with the details…. evidently this is a common problem. There are multiple web pages dedicated to it and several plugins. It is an issue with the WordPress PHP mail() function. Non worked for me.

I finally stumbled across some instructions on my Mail Server site, and they developed a Zoho Specific plugin.

Thanks for all your help. You saved me several days of work.
