• I’ve noticed that since I got wordfence running on two wordpress sites in my hosting account, My account is getting limited for excessive input/output usage during the wordfence scans. One of the sites is larger than the other but the limiting seems to be happening even when the smaller site is scanned. The scans are managing to complete. I just don’t want to have my hosting service insist that I have to upgrade to a much more expensive plan when I normally hardly put a dent in the resource usage other than when the scans run. What recommendations are there to avoid having my account limited?

  • Hi TCLynx,
Do you have large, bulky files on your server? something like (backup files, large log files, etc..), if so, then I recommend excluding these files from the scan, check (Wordfence > Options > Scans to include => Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns.)
Also, please go to (Wordfence > Diagnostics) and scroll down the page then choose “Enable debugging mode“, after that go to (Wordfence > Scan) and click on “Start a Wordfence Scan” and let me know if you encountered any error messages during this scan, don’t forget to turn off the “debugging mode” after the scan is completed.

    Thanks.

Sorry I haven’t had a chance to get to do any trouble shooting. I’ve had the scans turned off This past week when limiting them to just word press didn’t solve the problem.
