  • A normal plugin update should not make all your data disappear, as it usually only replaces files and not your database.

    How did you update WooCommerce?

I updated by clicking the update button. After it updated I checked the site and BOOM everything is gone. My boss is freaking out right now and I honestly have NO idea how this could have happened.

Is the entire site gone? Or has it reverted to default settings? Do you at least get a login window? Or is everything just a white screen?

If you get white screen everyhere: log in to your server using FTP, navigate to the folder /wp-content/plugins and rename the WooCommerce directory to something like woocommerce-disabled.

This should automatically disable WooCommerce and possibly get your site back up. If not, do it with other plugins as well until the site is back up.

Everything is a white screen, when you google the website the caption says “We would love to share info but the site isn’t allowing us to” I can’t log in to wordpress, like the account is gone.
How do I log in with FTP?

To log in to your webhost using FTP, you will need an FTP program such as Filezilla. With that, you can navigate through your files on the server.

Your webhost should be able to help you give your servername and login credentials.
