  • Hey Hugh

In cPanel check if you can still access phpMyAdmin – you’ll need to know your database name, username and password.

Copy all the files back onto your server and make sure the database details are the same as before in wp-config.php

You shouldnt run into too many problems, biggest thing is the database as that is where the settings are stored.

    Did you install throught Softacolous?

    Hi dainemawer

    I did install through Softacolous.
I previously tried copying all the folders & file back to the server and it did’t work.
Then I tried reinstalling WordPress and it still didn’t work.
I can access phpMyAdmin and there appear to be 2 database listed.
I viewed the WP-config.php file from my PC and it has a different database name to those in phpMyAdmin.
Should I change one of the database names?
How should I go forward from here.

    Thanks
    Hugh

    Hmmm,

Okay – one of the databases in phpMyAdmin will have the necessary data.
When you delete the wordpress files off your server it doesnt delete the database.

I dont think your files are the problem here, its just a database connection – do you get an error message when you look at your home url? ie. https://www.yourdomain.com

    Hi dainemawer,

Thanks for your help. Rather than spending a lot of time trying to solve the problem I just recreated the site.

    Thanks

Hey there. So do you use a plugin to backup the site? What one?

I haven’t used a plugin in the past but I will be reviewing my backup strategy going forward.
