Accidentally sent DB backup to a Prospective Worker

    I mindlessly sent my db backup believing it was my xml file. Are passwords included in backed up database files? How worried should I be?

    I am sorry to hear about that. Yes but WordPress passwords are hashed, and if they are strong and unique, it is very unlikely that someone will be able to determine the actual password even with access to the database backup.

    However, it’s important to note that with the backup, they can access the actual data. I would recommend reaching out to the person again (which I’m sure you have already done) for damage limitation purposes.
