• Hi my website is for a talking newspaper for the blind. It is therefore important it is accessible. There is a problem with duplication – firstly in the title bar – the Description and Tagline repeat twice and then in the window (which I think are the URLs) which repeat twice. So a screen reader says the same thing 4 times! I looked at Twenty Sixteen which doesn’t have this problem. Guess I need to change my theme but thought I would mention it and maybe get some help thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello susiemichele3,

I have checked the site (https://eetn.org.uk/) , it seems fine. The tagline and description comes only once.

For better understanding please refer the screenshot-

Thank you so much for checking this for me – however, I’m sorry I think I was unclear – the Title repeats in the tab part (not in the page) in Chrome and therefore if you Add Bookmark you can visually see the repetition – not too much of a problem. However, if you check it with a screen reader – such as VoiceOver it reads it allowed 4 times (including “vertical line”) Then repeats the Site Title and Description again when in the Window.
I don’t seem to have this problem in my sandbox version. I’m trying to learn about ARIA but of course cannot put this code in CSS (as far as I know). Please help as my screen reader visitors, one of which is the chair of our talking newspaper – are driven mad. Thank you
