According to accessibility guidelines, any status messages should be accessible also when using the web with keyboard / screen reader (please see https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/#status-messages).

The Events Calendar calendar search provides a status message when no results are found, but this message is not read by a screen reader. So anyone with visual impairment won’t know if any results were found to their search.

There should also be a status message for when results are found (and how many), which is lacking also in written.

We came across these issues on an accessible site we’re building for our customer (not public yet).

We hope to see these issues fixed as soon as possible!

  • Hey @siniak

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.

You will be happy to know that we have a collection of accessibility improvements that we are going through. So this is super helpful.

I don’t have a delivery date just yet, so if this is pressing, your best bet is probably to tackle this via a template override https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/guide/customization/

We will report back here once a fix is released.

    Best regards,
    Geoff

    Hi @siniak,

Since we haven’t heard from you in a while on this topic we will assume that the problem was fixed or is no longer applicable and with that I will mark this as resolved.

If that is not the case, please let me know and I will gladly remove the “Resolved” tag and try to help you further. Or you can create a new topic with the problem if you prefer.

    Best Regards,
