Access GET parameters?

I’m wanting to be able to automatically add items to the cart, similar to the way this tutorial is doing it:
https://businessbloomer.com/woocommerce-custom-add-cart-urls-ultimate-guide/What I’d like to be able to do is automatically fill my required Custom Option into the cart item when this happens. When I attempt to do so, I get an error message that “Records Required:” is a required field:
