Access Denied using Amazon s3

We can not get the Amazon S3 backup to work.
Can you please provide DETAILED instructions and SAMPLE.
It always says access denied and we have tried everything we can think of. Don’t have a clue if we have the wrong Bucket or the security key we setup isn’t correct.
As an FYI, we tried reviewing your site including the POLICY and it returns an error as well when we cut and paste.
FYI: It also says something about the Bucket being private.
Any updated instructions on this?
