Access Custom Fields in Template

    Hi,

    Is it possible to extract a custom field value within a WordPress template? I’d like to display a navigation link based on the presence of a value for a custom field (say, PDF) then the link points to a page where the template checks for the value of the custom field and, if present, displays data.

    Is this possible? If so, what is the most efficient method to extract a custom field and test for a value?
