    Hello–
We have been using this plugin for over two years – thanks.

Suddenly all user access for those not logged in has ceased. Instead of a folder widget users see: “You do not have access to this folder.” I see the same until I log in as admin, after which I see the widget.

Under Settings/Access Control, all checkboxes are select them (say, All/Anonymous and the top level folder) but when I select Save the checkboxes revert to unselected.

The one recent change we have made to the site that I imagine could be relevant was to apply an SSL certificate. Could that make a difference? And if so, what can I do about it?
    Thanks, Jim

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for your feedback. v2.2.0 did address some Access Control logic but should have been backward compatible with your previous settings. Two things you could try after updating to 2.2.0 again:

    1. In the Admin, select the All/Anonymous role and select each folder before clicking Save Changes. It sounds like you might have done this, but just to be sure please try it again! Note that it won’t keep the checkbox after saving, but you can verify the access control that’s been applied to each folder by looking at the value in parenthesis after each folder.

    2. If you want All/Anonymous role on EVERY folder, and you’re comfortable making changes in the WordPress database for your site, find the bex_folder_auth key in the options table and you can delete it. This will reset access to All/Anonymous for each folder.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Thanks for these suggestions, Chris.
I have only one, top-level folder in the settings (which is all I need.) I updated the plugin again, tried selecting that and “All/Anonymous,” and saved the updated settings. The checkboxes did deselect, and the parenthesis after the folder read: “(All/Anonymous)”.

Unfortunately the same problem recurred: no access.

Making changes to the WordPress database is outside my comfort zone, so I rolled back the plugin again.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for trying out my suggestions. I unfortunately can’t replicate your issue. I have, though, added new functionality to the plugin to completely reset the access control with version 2.2.1. Maybe give that a go.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Version 2.2.1 seems to have done the trick. Thanks!

Alas and alack, it stopped working again. I rolled back again to 2.1.8.
