• So I have PayPal Website Payments Pro (DoDirectPayment) setup to accept credit cards; I see that paypal advanced accepts paypal payemnts and “uses an iframe to seamlessly integrate PayPal hosted pages into the checkout process.” I have a paypal pro account, would I need to get paypal advanced in order for this to work?

Essentially I am trying to not allow the customer to leave my site during checkout.

If you already have Pro I would just stick with that. It’s an upgrade over Advanced. The buyer will remain on your site and fill in credit card details directly on the WooCommerce checkout page. Just make sure you have an SSL certificate installed on the site and you’ll be good to go.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about that.

So I guess my question is moreso do I have the capabilities, with a paypal pro account, to also use use advanced. I need the ability to pay via paypal (not so much CC, which is already enabled through pro, but actual paypal) on the site, rather than something like standard, where the users goes to the paypal website then is redirected back. It seems to me that’s what advanced does.

No, Payments Pro being active on the account would not give you access to the PayPal Advanced APIs. It’s a completely different product that would have to be setup.

It sounds like what you’re after is the Express Checkout In Context experience. Unfortunately, this is not available with our plugin as of today, but we are working hard on the 1.4.0 update which will include this. It should be released in the next couple of weeks or so.

@angelleye so I talked to paypal and they said I have advanced access/credentials and they gave me steps to enable advanced and create credentials (which the plugin settings are asking for – merchant login, user, pass, partner).

I have opened a ticket on your support site because I think there’s a little lost in translation. Maybe I am completely misunderstanding it. Ticket #550547. Thanks.

Okay, I’ll get to the ticket soon. Going through them in order, of course.
