Hello! I’m having an issue with Authorize.net for WooCommerce; I created a support thread in the primary WooCommerce forum and was then recommended to the Authorize.net-specific forum for further assistance. Below is a link to my original thread:

Basically, I’m seeking assistance with an issue related to credit card processing on my client’s website. Several of my client’s customers are encountering an error message that reads “Accept.js encryption failed” when attempting to add or change their credit card information, but I haven’t found any help or solution that has helped me resolve this issue.

    Issue Overview:

    • Users are unable to update their credit card info; doing so give them the error message: “Accept.js encryption failed”
    • The error seems to be affecting multiple clients and is preventing them from updating their payment information or adding a second credit card.
    • Attempts to troubleshoot the problem have been unsuccessful so far; the Authorize.net guide to “Accept.js” only provides a vague explanation of the issue: “A general error. Encrypting and transmitting the card data failed, either within the browser or at the Authorize.net servers.”

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    • I’ve attempted to reproduce the error and investigate potential causes within WordPress, WooCommerce, and the Authorize.net payment gateway; see relevant screenshot link below.
    • However, I still haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact source of the issue or find a solution.
    • Deleting existing payment methods and examining WooCommerce logs did not resolve the problem.

    Additional Information:

Despite these efforts, I’m still unsure whether the problem lies with a faulty plugin or another aspect of the website’s setup. Any help or insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    Hi Philip,

I will be happy to help. There should be a support form on Authorize.Net -> Contact Us page in your WP dashboard which you can use for support of the premium version, it also logs a ticket on our system for immediate attention.

This forum is only support for the version hosted on www.remarpro.com.

Ah! Gotcha, thank you @mohsinoffline … yeah, I was initially concerned whether this was a WordPress, WooCommerce or Authorize.net error (or all three?) so I had cast a wide net across multiple support lines just to see what answers come up. I’ll give that a try again right away.

That said, for the sake of future readers with this problem… once I find something out, I’ll reply back with the answer.

    (Reposting from my initial post)

Ok so for the sake of anyone else having this problem in the future: it turns out that Stripe was “intercepting” the information going to Authorize.net. Like, with both of them on, when a client tried to update their credit card info with Authorize.net, Stripe was somehow thinking it was for it and taking the data before it could get to Authorize.net. Thus the Accept.js error.

So, try making sure Stripe—or any other payment system and its associated plugin—is turned off and deactivated, then try it again. Hope this helps!
