    Hi @ilgrizly !

It looks like our shortcode has been heavily modified on your site, so there’s likely something in the changed code that is causing the “special character” to appear. If you do the following you can verify the accented characters appear from an description:

    1. Take a backup of the site
    2. Delete and then re-add The Events Calendar Shortcode & Block, to ensure it’s a fresh copy
    3. Deactivate all other plugins except our plugin and The Events Calendar
    4. Switch to a default theme like TwentyTwenty
    5. Create a new page, and add [ecs-list-events excerpt='true']

I just verified the above with a new event that has accented letters, and they appear as expected. If not, there might be something mis-configured with the website hosting, such as the database format your site is currently using not supporting UTF8 characters, which the hosting company may be able to help with.

Assuming the text displays correctly with the above steps, since we’re not able to provide support for customizations, you could contact the developer(s) who made the modifications to the plugin (ie. adding the calendar icon, adding the button, etc) and see if they can help.

Alternatively the pro version of our plugin has several designs, but they’re not exactly your customized design:

    Cheers!
