Does it work if you use the HTML character entity to represent the letter instead if the letter? https://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp

I’m posting from my phone, so I’ not sure whether it will work as I have not tried it – please let me me know if it does work

    Hello Cubclour,

First I want to thank you for your attention and help…

I have already tried to use the html character to represent the letter but it didn’t work out.

    Is there another way?

    Thanks

OK back home so I’ve been able to try this out & it does work for me.

I just made a new post on my test site called Café au Lait so put the title as Café au Lait using the HTML character entity é to represent the é – small e with acute accent.

The permalink was automatically generated as caf-au-lait so I manually changed it to cafe-au-lait

The correct title with accent is showing everywhere that the post title is displayed.

I don’t know why it isn’t working for you. Can you try a test post with this title?

    Hello my friend,

I tried just as you said, but it didn’t work out…

I once read that it could be something related to some php file…what do you think?

    I don’t know what else to do…

    Thanks Cube

I cannot replicate the problem so it is not possible for me to find a fix. Did you enter the code for tha accented character exactly as I suggested?

Maybe it is theme or plugin related. Can you try it with all plugins disabled and with the default 2010 theme enabled to see if it behaves the same way? Other than that I have no idea why it isn’t working for you.

Bumping threads isn’t appreciated on this forum.

It is the theme causing the issue. It may be worth contacting the theme author to request support/report a bug, or use a theme which can use accents in the title.

It does not work for me

I have the same problem, do not show me the accents in the post titles.

My blog is in Spanish, I could do?

    Thank you.

xMarioHx – You should have started your own thread rather than adding to this one.

You have not given any details of what theme you are using, but as stated above, it seems that this issue is due to something specific to the theme. My best suggestion is to try a different theme (eg the default 2010 theme) – temporarily change it to confirm whether this is the cause.

Then you could contact the theme developer for support – but bear in mind that they may have to charge for modifications.

Alternatively some kind person may come along who has time to look at your theme to troubleshoot this.
