My wordpress wont update to 4.2.2. I tried deactivating my theme and plugin but I keep getting “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261904 bytes) in D:\Hosting\12691531\html\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 159”.

I tried manually updating using FTP but I had a really hard time getting filezilla to connect to my site. I even tried windows 8.1’s FTP software but I found that even more complicated. I couldnt get these to work.

So I backed up all of my wordpress data (databases & files), and I installed a plugin to reset my site. It still wont update. I get the same error.

To be honest, I’m ready to make my site all over again as long as I can get this issue fixed.

I cant update my theme, plugins or site because of this issue. My wordpress user/edit page wont load either along with some other pages. I think it might be corrupt, but I’m not qualified to say for certain.

I got in touch with my hosting manger (godaddy.com), but they’ve said they only have read permissions for wordpress.

At this point I’d be really happy if someone helped do a hard reset for my wordpress account. I just need a fresh version of wordpress with the latest version and I’ll take care of the rest.

Please help. I would really really appreciate it.
