Gutenberg is a UI train-wreck. It has clearly been designed by people who have never used one of the multitudes of page builder plugins that preceded it. Heck I’d be surprised if it was designed by anyone who regularly edits text in WordPress.

Nobody wants to edit their text like a page builder. I don’t want to drag around my paragraph like it’s a block. Gutenberg treats two very different tasks- editing text and designing a layout as the same thing and in doing so it fails at both.

And don’t get me started on this supposed simplified interface where they’ve just swept important functionality under a handful of random-looking icons. Is it under the gear? Is it under the ellipses? Maybe it’s under the *other* ellipses? For god’s sake..

  • Thanks for your feedback and your review. Sorry, you had some frustrating experience as a new user of the block editor. What specifically do you find not working?
You don’t have to drag & drop blocks around, you can just start typing and hit enter as you do in the classic editor. If the toolbar on the block is in your way you can make it a top toolbar via the 3 dot menu on the right. You don’t have to design anything until you are done writing.

If you are open to additional more specific conversation about how to transition from the classic editor to the block editor as a site owner, or writer, I’d be happy to connect some more.

let me reply by using Steve words:
