Absolute beginner and don’t understand how to start instal! Help?l

  • I want to learn Word Press and downloaded version 3.1 for MacOSX (snow leopard)
    I am absolute beginner and don’t understand how to install on my computer and get started with basics because the documentation tells me that I need:
    ‘Access to your web server (via shell or FTP)’
    ‘An FTP Client’

    Well, I don’t have web server or FTP client!
    Perhaps I need to install some extra software in addition to Word Press itself ?

    Can someone,please, guide me thru exact steps to install Word Press just on my computer and start learning?

  • use software called XAMPP, it will make a webserver on your computer

    I have a Mac, and I use MAMP, it’s very simple, and easy to install. If you belong to Lynda.com there are several very good movies that will take you step by step through the installation.
