Absolute Beginner- A Few Basic Questions

  • Hello, I am brand new to www.remarpro.com, i’ve used wordpress.com before and I realized that I’d like more customization on my website and to possibly earn some extra few bucks. I have an idea for a website, the domain i’d like is free, but I’m unsure of if it will be reasonable. I know itll be difficult to make my own site but I have a few questions.

    1. If I go with bluehost, I can try out the whole thing and if I choose to get my money back I can get a refund in the first 30 days right? But id still get a 10$ penalty but keep the domain, which wouldnt really bother me.
    2. The idea of my website is based around a video-game, and there will be different categories on the website where i was hoping other people could post pictures. Is it difficult to have an option like that where other people can post pictures or videos on my website? and then comment on other peoples maybe? It seems like an advanced web feature that may be over my head!
    3. I had some others but cant think of them, maybe could you give a beginner some tips if I go through with it?

    If you could answer my two first questions id be greatly appreciated. Number 2 would be very important to my site and i was hoping other could post their stuff which would greatly help with content. Thanks again for the help!

  • 1- Bluehost question. Hopefully a bluehost representative can answer that, but in my opinion they are a fantastic company and I often recommend their service .

    2- Getting other people to post stuff is a bit more advanced. You will need to either set up a form and then post their ideas, links etc or set them up as users on your blog. You want to be careful with that because unfortunately, there are a lot of spammers, trolls and nasty people out there who might upload content that you don’t want posted on your site.

    Thank you so much for the answer! And that’s good news about the fantastic quality of bluehost, if i go through with it i’ll choose them. As for the other answer, I was sadly convinced it was going to be a bit more advanced ?? I wouldn’t mind trying to deal with the trolls and maybe spammers, but if setting that up is far over my head then I wouldn’t be too sure what to do. Thank you for your time and opinion, I greatly appreciate it!

    By the way, there really is no simple plug-in to let others post comments, pictures, or videos on my blog? Can they do it if I review all posts first? I read that you can make them contributors but that seems complex, I’d kind of like a newcomer to share his info and even art quite easily.
