  • @rodrigoflausino Thanks for getting in touch! At this time, it’s not possible to choose output formats in the Web Stories plugin. The best way to manage this on a case by case basis is to convert larger images to WebP before uploading.

    If you’d like to convert _all_ new JPEG uploads to your site to WebP, you can use the Performance Lab plugin, which Google has been working on as part of the broader WordPress Performance Team. When installed and activated, this plugin generates WebP versions of newly uploaded JPEG images. In addition, this functionality will be available beginning in WordPress version 6.1, which will be released later this year.

    In the future, the Performance Team plans to add functionality both in the plugin and in WordsPress core that allows you to regenerate JPEG images that you previously uploaded as WebP versions.
