    Hello,

I need help to understand how to deal with the new containers system.

I want to create a website with templates, and I would like to view some templates providers such as Envato templates or Unlimited Elements templates.

The thing is that I don′t understand how to deal with containers given the fact that most templates have been crated with columns and inner sections. Even Starter templates have been created with columns, and yet, Elementor is now setting containers as default.

SAME confusion I am having with widgets of well known providers such as Essential Addons, Happy Addons, Unlimited Elements, Premium addons, etc on their FREE VERSIONS

Could you possibly clarify on this issue?

    Thank you very much ??

I heard containers will be default as of now and a lot faster than columns.?Please clarify
    Thank you!

    Hi,

In new installs, the default will be containers, but you can still change that in the Elementor settings and keep using sections.

However, containers are better for speed for one, so I would recommend using containers.

Websites or templates that were created with elements, can easily be converted to containers. Please search in Google or other search engine for: “how to convert Elementor sections to containers”, to learn how to do that.

    Hope this helps!

Hi! @logologics and thank your for your reply

I have heard that converting may make your website crash, or at least some functionalities may be lost .

Do you know of any plugin that can help make safe conversions?

    Thanks again!

    Hi @aflorarte,

    You’re welcome!

So, far I have converted a few of my websites, and no big issues.
Best practice, as always, is to take a back-up and create a staging site, and convert there. That way the live site stays intact, until all conversions are done in staging and as soon as that is done, you can migrate the back-up back into the live site.

Thing is, as soon as you set it to containers, all old sections will be intact, and you could decide to keep them.

As soon as you will create new content, those will be containers. Only when you go into the page and click on convert, the section will be converted to a container. However, it is still very safe, because after hitting convert, the section will still be there + the same section but that one will be converted.

That way you can see if the conversion went well, and if not, you can start adjusting it, until it is ok. As soon as the converted section/container looks like it should, you can then safely delete the old section.
