    Hi,

I see that the plugin needs a premium extension is needed for WordPress Multisite. Can you tell me if the plugin itself doesn’t work(to backup subsite content) on Multisite Installation without the premium extension?

I have a few doubts and wish you clarify

    1) I would like to know if it backsup everything including the sub-site content.

    2) Does it support Multi Network plugins(Not a general Multisite setup)

    3) Hope it won’t cause issues if we use Custom domains.

    4) Are you planning to add SugarSync.com and Copy.com in the backup services list? I love to use Copy.com or atleast SugarSync.

    Looking forward for your response

    Thanks!

    Hi vbk100,

    Thanks for asking!

    1) Yes, the multisite add-on also adds backup of the components not covered by the free version (mu-plugins and site uploads (on pre-3.5. installs, before they were moved into the same uploads directory as everything else)).

    2) Yes – that plugin just activates one of the otherwise unused parts of the WP database; all data remains within the same WP install.

    3) Those are no problem. The data is still within the same database, so is caught by a standard database backup.

    4) I’d never heard of Copy.Com. Will take a look. SugarSync is planned – no timetable yet, though (box.com is planned first).

    David,

    Thanks for the response!

Regarding the multisite thing, is just the folder mu-plugins not supported by the plugin? If so, I can manage to get it manually as the folder mu-plugins may not have frequent changes. Is there any other part of the Multisite that is not supported by the free version and supported by premium version?

And the uploads folder, mine is latest install and I think I need not worry about it.

Can you be more specific about the point 2(About networks with in the network)?

    Hi vkk100,

The multisite add-on also applies the security controls, such that only a super-admin can create + restore backups. Without those, any admin (which on a multisite, means any site admin) can (and could use that facility to take over the whole site, e.g. by modifying the backup of the password data before restoring).
The development version of the multisite add-on allows importing of a single site into a multisite (i.e. take a backup of a non-multisite and add it). Future versions will add more features.

In 2) I was just trying to say that that plugin doesn’t do anything outside of normal plugin activity and doesn’t present any particular backup issues.

    Hope that helps,
    David
