    Hello there.

5 stars for the plugin, it’s a keeper as far as I’m concerned.

In a bid to streamline things, making it easier for legit users to make contact/login, and more difficult for the baddies to get in I was happy to see WPForms offering reCaptcha v3.

However, what makes me hesitant to implement it is the sentence that says ‘recommended for advanced use only’. I like to think I am reasonably advanced, what with running 5 websites on my own VPS with root access, and regularly fiddling with .htaccess files and php scripts.

The thing is I have implemented v3 for the main WP login page using Wordfence. I am still able to log in to WP, and the attempted bot logins seem to have stopped, dead. From multiple attempts daily, to none for the last week since I added it. I did in fact just set it, and have almost forgotten about it. So it seems to be working with no ‘advanced’ settings.

Now with WPForms, when you say advance use, what does that mean? How exactly can we implement it? I know it works using a scoring system, based on a score we (site owners) determine, but how do we determine that score, and then what do we do with it? Where do we put it?

If I may be so bold, I thought the idea behind AI and all these new measures and algorithms is to make less work for us humans, not more. I really like the idea of ‘set it and forget it’ ??

    What am I missing?

    Hi Sean,

To set up v3 reCAPTCHA in WPForms Lite, you can go to WPForms > Settings > reCAPTCHA. On that page, when you select v3 reCAPTCHA you’ll see the fields to add the reCAPTCHA site keys from your reCAPTCHA account, as well as Score Threshold field. We have set the default score to 0.4, which is the most common.

If you’d like to use v3 reCAPTCHA, you may need to test the form submissions, as well as monitor the users’ feedback about form submissions to adjust the score to ensure that legitimate entries are submitted.

For most users we recommend using the a v2 Invisible reCAPTCHA option, which does not require users’ interaction with the reCAPTCHA in most cases.

We have more details on each of the reCAPTCHA options in our tutorial on how to set up reCAPTCHA in WPForms.

    Hope this helps!
