• Hello,
    I’m Lieven and just starting with WordPress.
    Standard ,the home page is assigned to receive blog posts. But you can also asign another page to receive blog posts.
    Why can’t I assign more pages to publish blog posts?

    What I’m looking for in WordPress is a simple business site with 5 or 6 pages and maybe oe page for a blog. How do i do that best??
    Can i make another page then my homepage static as well??
    Can i use WordPress to make an ordinary site, so not blog site?
    Thx,

    WordPress automatically create pages on-demand for your post listings such as Category, Archive and Tag pages.

    You can make any published Page your static home page and simultaneously select another published Page to become your Posts (blog) page via Settings -> Reading.

    Yes. I do this all of the time for clients. Just set up a static front page.

    What you mean by;

    If there’s only one homepage that is static and one page who contains the blogs, i ask myself
    how to assign content to the other pages of the site?

    Thx

    What content are you referring to?

    text, photos and everything…

    You can create as many static Pages (that’s Pages – not Posts) as you want. Just navigate to Pages -> Add New and happily publish away. Where (or even if) these Pages are displayed in our site’s navigation menu will depend entirely upon your chosen theme or whether you have opted to use a custom menu. If you’re creating a non-blog site, I’d highly recommend the latter as it provides you with complete visitor navigation control.

    Just to prove that WordPress can create static sites, have a look at https://www.nwfriends.org.uk/ (a very small, simple site) or https://www.paulinehughesceramics.com/ which incorporates a static site plus blog or (NSFW) https://triplel.co.uk/ – a static site and shop.

    All WordPress.
