@rodrigoflausino Hello, and thank you for your report. From your checking your site (not specifically a story) at web.dev, there are possible improvements that could be made across the site in general that may reflect in your story performance. The biggest opportunity seems to be to improve the initial server response time. There’s a link for improving this area within the same report. Your Stories perform much better in performance test scoring than your non-story URLs. Using the Search Console community you may find additional insights by the PageSpeed product experts.

Thanks for response. In Page Speed Insights, it listed the AMP Optimizer, but i don’t have much knowledge for this.

You have any recommended aditional plugins, with the web stories support? I updated the WP Total cache configuration and i begin tests with Hummingbird WordPress plugin.

    Another test:

    https://www.selectgame.com.br/web-stories/veja-um-belo-cosplay-da-maki-nishikino-kimono-de-love-live/

In this web stories, it gets 35 in mobile and 88 in desktop format. One recommendation its “Preload important resources”. How i can test this ? Because some slides from web stories i dont create the page with image in background format.

Thanks in Advanced and sorry for my bad english.

In relation to improving performance if you’re using the official AMP plugin you can make use of the performance benefits it brings, including AMP Optimizer (see https://github.com/google/web-stories-wp/issues/1276). This would require an AMP-compatible theme for the best results. Any improvements to your site overall would benefit your story performance. Some of your images are also over 100kbs in size: https://i.imgur.com/xllCDYL.png

Interesting, I can’t be sure, I will however check with the team. I did however check non-story URLs and found similar experiences. Overall, if looking for improved scores using PageSpeed Insights can provide WordPress-specific recommendations.

Yes, I tried to disable a third-party AMP plugin, but after an error with the Newspaper’s mobile theme, I won’t try it again for now (I will wait for the new version of the theme to new tests).

In another recent web story, I changed the method to create and set all images as “background”, so the “preload” doesn’t appear anymore. A curious detail, there are duplicate javacripts and “unused javacript”: as I set up the “Site Kit” and put the Adsense settings manually (in addition to using another analytics plugin) does this end up generating this? I am using the “Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP)” and Google Site Kit.

For Google Site Kit, the only connected services in my blog its Search Console and Adsense

The new web stories with all background images:

    https://www.selectgame.com.br/web-stories/falcao-e-o-soldado-invernal-novos-posteres-da-serie-da-disney-marvel/

In new tests i will tried to use gzip, but i don’t have much knowledge about this.

I will tried to change the cache plugin: I’m using the WP Super Cache instead of the WP Total Cache, and ‘ don’t get much performance for now, but it’s helped as little.

About the size of the images, some images will get bigger because quality. And i tried to test some “webp” images encoders and I saw limitations on the number of images that I can convert.

Thanks in Advanced again and sorry for my bad english.

    “unused javacript”

Unused javascript can be caused by AMP as a false positive report that can be ignored as it is a non-issue.

Generally, when it comes to Page Speed Insights and Web Stories you can take the warnings and numbers with a grain of salt. Your stories perform better than your non-story URLs and you’re already using caching plugins which is good. You may want to look into how to improve your site overall and I suggest you reach out to the product experts at the Search Console help center for further help.

In another recent web story, I changed the method to create and set all images as “background”, so the “preload” doesn’t appear anymore.

Thanks for the update! This is an area where we can approve so I’ve also opened a feature request on our side to add preloading to the plugin for performance improvement.
