Able to check out without account even though this is set as not allowed

We’re having problems as customers are able to checkout without an account even though the ‘Allow customers to place orders without an account’ setting is unchecked. We need customers to be logged in to track room bookings.

From what I understand, you’re facing a situation where customers can finalize their checkout without creating an account, even though you’ve disabled the ‘Allow customers to place orders without an account’ option. You’ve also shared that you’re using BookingWP for appointments, and you don’t see any settings that could be overriding this WooCommerce feature.

I’ve personally dug into your issue by running tests with the latest versions of WordPress, WooCommerce, and our free Storefront theme, without any other plugins running. But, I wasn’t able to recreate the problem, leading me to believe it might be unique to your setup.

From your screenshot and system status report, it seems like everything is set up correctly on the WooCommerce side. You have correctly unchecked the ‘Allow customers to place orders without an account’ option and also enabled settings for account creation during checkout and on the ‘My Account’ page.

However, I noticed that you have also enabled the options to ‘When creating an account, automatically generate an account username for the customer based on their name, surname or email‘ and ‘When creating an account, send the new user a link to set their password‘. This means that even if the customer doesn’t manually create an account, the system will automatically create one for them and send them an email to set their password. This could be the reason why customers are able to checkout without manually creating an account.

If you want customers to manually create an account before checking out, you might want to consider disabling these two options. Once these are disabled, customers will need to manually input a username and password to create an account during checkout or on the ‘My Account’ page.
