Ability to use other editors
-
I’m having an issue with this plugin forcing the classic editor, which is fine for me, as I’m a professional web developer and can use HTML+CSS code to get the proper designs for the portfolio items, but my client needs to be able to add items themselves and they DO NOT have the in house skills to mess around with HTML+CSS.
So it is essential to be able to use a block editor of some sort so my client will have what they NEED, which is to be able to update their portfolios in house whenever they complete a new project.
I know this was discussed in an threat about a year ago, but that thread’s locked and in it you claimed it was “impossible” to allow for the use of any other editor then Classic Editor. That statement is actually incorrect, as first off, ALL WordPress content types are built to work natively with the Gutenberg block editor at a MINIMUM. This means WordPress was DESIGNED for ALL content types to seamlessly work with the built in block editor by default. Making it NOT work with the block editor ought to thus require MORE effort to accomplish then to simply go with what the WordPress core developers want, which is universal access to the built in block editor for all content types.
If you want to see an example of another, similar plugin that DOES integrate with the Gutenberg block editor to show you proof that it is possible as well as HIGHLY advisable, check out Easy Testimonial. You’ll notice you can edit testimonials in that plugin either with the Classic Editor OR the Block Editor, as you CHOOSE.
You are really doing yourselves a HUGE disservice by not making this change as you’re hugely limiting the appeal of your plugin to ONLY those who have the skills to work with HTML and CSS coding. I’ve noticed you have a premium version of your plugin, so this is actually costing you money since those who can’t use your plugin won’t want to buy it.
