Abandon Cart Issues

Hi.
I’m having issues with my abandoned cart emails.
When an email is entered into the checkout page it’s being captured and sent to mailchimp and added to the queue.
But if the potential customer then clicks on “pay securely through paypal” (i Use paypal as my payment processor) the email is then removed from the queue even if the abandon payment. eg.close the page or cancel transaction.
So no abandon cart email is being sent.Any ideas? It’s quite frustrating.
