Aaron theme and Jetpack compatibility issue

I really like this theme, but it appears to have a conflict with Jetpack. When I activate the plugin I get an error message like this:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /data/22/2/60/43/2060858/user/2258982/htdocs/site/wp-admin/includes/deprecated.php on line 527
OR
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /data/22/2/60/43/2060858/user/2258982/htdocs/site/wp-admin/includes/list-table.php on line 66

— that happens on any attempt to log-in. So the site is ok, I just can’t get to the dashboard. I have deactivated other plugins (deleting and reinstalling Jetpack in the process) with no luck. Other themes (like TwentyTwelve) seem ok.
