    AAM is great and versatile plugin.
    However, in last stable version, I have observed these problems:
    – Administrator role is always visible and editable;
    – Capabilities editor works with instant auto-save. I think is not a good idea;
    – Capabilities editor doesn’t work correctly. Capabilities checkmarks does not refresh;
    – If checked, “promote_user” now allows users to promote (themselves and other users) to admin role. Likewise, administrators can be demoted. It is so dangerous!

  • Hi mdvmarco,

    Appreciate a lot your feedback. This means a lot to us.

    After a lot of brainstorming we came to conclusion that AAM has to be as light and close to the core as possible. But at the same time we took approach to make AAM very flexible and extendable.

    If you knows PHP you can in 5 minutes create an extension for AAM to add filter roles functionality based on user level. We are working on a quick “Get Started” tutorial on how to do that so follow us on twitter [Link redacted] for new updates.

    With capabilities, you are right. That was a bug and it is fixed. You can get the latest fix from GitHub: https://github.com/VasylTech/advanced-access-manager

    Regards,
    Vasyl
