Hi. i just activated the plugin and set its widget on my sidebar. but there is a warning message telling:
“Illegal String Offset ‘name’ in home/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular- posts/src/Output.php on line 168”
“Illegal String Offset ‘name’ in home/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular- posts/src/Output.php on line 230”

I checked the directory and there was nothing wrong with that. how come the plugin sends this message just after installing and activation while there’s nothing wrong?

    my email: [email protected]

    Thanks

    Hi @iranslate,

A similar issue happened to another user recently. In their case it turned out to be a conflict with another plugin. Try following these instructions and report back your results.

thanks for your help and replying.
i followed the instruction and checked the plugin in troubleshooting mode, but the problem and so the message remains the same.
at the first activation, the plugin works well, but once i uncheck the “Display Views” property, the mentioned messages and warning appears.

i would be grateful if you help me with this. it is matter of business.

This message is a bit confusing. Earlier you said:

how come the plugin sends this message just after installing?

So, are you a first time user of the plugin and just installed it for the first time or have you been using it for some time now? Which one is it?

i followed the instruction and checked the plugin in troubleshooting mode, but the problem and so the message remains the same.

What exactly did you do when you were in troubleshooting mode? I need to know this in order to try and replicate the problem here.

you are right. I said that last night i deactivated and then again activated the plugin after one year. it was just last night that the message appeared.
I downloaded the Healthcare plugin. put it on the troubleshooting mode and enabled the plugin in troubleshooting mode and there was no messages. but after unchecking the Display Views (you know that the plugin in default displays the views), the message appeared again.

This is while the Troubleshooting mode is still active, correct?

Alright, that’s something I can work woth. Thanks for the extra details.

I’ll have a look at this as soon as possible. For the time being please set WP_DEBUG to false in your wp-config.php file to stop that message from showing up on the website. You can set it to true again once we figure out what’s going on.

Alright, so I tried running WPP with WP_DEBUG set to true and with Troubleshooting mode enabled as well. Followed your instructions and no PHP notice/error messages were found.

    Using WPP in Troubleshooting Mode

    Note that during this test:

    • I used the latest version of WordPress.
    • Except for the Health Check plugin and WPP, no other plugins were active.
    • The active theme was Twenty Twenty.

So no idea what’s going on on your side. You’ll need to do some more testing to figure out what’s causing it so I can help.

    Hi.
Thanks for your help. I followed the instruction but the problem is not resolved. Once I uncheck the “Display View” property in the Plugin’s Settings, the message appears again and I have to re-install the plugin.
I want to show the popular posts, with no Views counts, no comment count and nothing extra. just the posts titles.

I will be grateful if you help me with this. it is two week of struggling with that.

    Hi @iranslate,

I’d like to help but as I pointed out before I cannot reproduce the issue. You should probably get in touch with your developer (or hire one if you don’t have a regular dev) so they can help you debug this.
