A suggestion for 404 error
-
Hi Scott ?? !
I have a little request that could be a suggestion ;).
For my theme, I created a 404.php template. I imagined that in a future release you’ll manage to clear deleted pages and posts from the static folders. So, for users and spiders, sometimes some content might be missing from static content and if correctly generated the 404 page will be “called”.
I thought that by addinghttps://domain.tld/404
in “Advanced > Additional URLs” it will generate my needed 404 page in the static part :)…
But as Simply Static treats it as a 404 error (and that’s logic) it doesn’t generate my needed 404 page :)…
I think that it would be very cool if you can add the ability to treats specifically this url (finishing by 404) to generate that page.
BTW we could easily generate 404 error page adapted to our theme ;).
If you add this “feature”, we could add in the parents of the static folders a .htaccess containingErrorDocument 404 /404/index.html
. refering to that 404 theme specific page ;).I hope I’ve been clear enough to be understandable :)…
TIA.
Amicably,
Pierre.
