A slow WP site

  • Hello! I would need a little help trimming my slow WP site. Loading time is 5-10s, on mobile the slowest. The site is still under construction, and I haven’t done search engine optimization yet.
    I have compressed almost all the images. Changing the theme doesn’t help much. I also deactivated all plugins (27) and it didn’t make much difference. My web host (Bluehost) says that they cannot upgrade a shared server. According to Google Page Insights or GMetrix the biggest problem is a slow server response time. GMetrix also suggests optimizing my application code (including database queries), implementing server-side caches and upgrading server hardware for more CPU or memory resources. These are things that are beyond my expertise. I have 1.41 GB disk usage in my account but I don’t know if this is enough. Maybe it’s the server settings?

    Hello! Thanks, but I would need a little more precise and concrete advice in this case. A shared server is a challenge (Bluehost). Google’s Lighthouse test on the Node.js command line indicates that the biggest delays on the site are caused by fonts loading because they don’t have the preload feature enabled, after that the most time is spent downloading .js and .css files. In addition to this, the site does not seem to take advantage of webm image formats. But how to fix that? By what tools exactly?

    I have WP Fastest Cache, Autoptimize and WP Optimize on my plugin list. Are they compatible with each other? Which one should I remove? WP Optimize seems to be the only one with the possibility to minify js files.

    According to the P3 report, the plugin impact is 67.48% of total loading time, of which the share of Neve Pro is 19.87%, Elementor 15.13% while the share of other plugins go well under 10%. So the Neve Pro and Elementor combination seems to be a bad choice if they both are active at the same time.
